The Sadar police have booked Dhand, a resident of Bindraban road, for extortion, trespassing and thrashing following the compliant of a realtor on Tuesday.

The accused, his son and other accomplices had thrashed an employee of the realtor after intruding in his office on August 4. The entire episode was recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in the office.

In his complaint, realtor Shiv Kumar Puri, a resident of Basant City of Pakhowal road, said he had availed a loan of rs1.65 crore from Dhand to purchase a property.

Puri said he had returned rs85 lakh to Dhand. On September 17, Dhand and his 12 accomplices equipped with sticks and baseball bats trespassed in his house and illegally confined him.
He alleged that the accused thrashed him up and took away 10 cheques, each worth `10 lakh and a cheque of value `65 lakh, from him, forcibly.

Dhand is already facing trial in 20 cases, including murder, extortion and torture. He was usually seen with a number of musclemen and was involved in an organised loan racket. Dhand was close to several policemen and politicians.

Dhand, his brother Vijay and two others were convicted in the Lalla murder case in July 2010. He was ordered to undergo rigorous life imprisonment. Later, Dhand filed a revision in the high court and is currently out on bail.
