Sonu’s collection at the fashion show displayed the festive look with flattering silhouettes. “With my theme being Indian royalty, I gave a hint of modern touch to my dresses. Gowns, shararas and stitched saris comprised the line in brocades, velvets and silks,” she said.

Sonu, an M SC in home science from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, says it is her love for clothes and to be dressed well that took her on the path of fashion designing. In 2000, she opened her store in Ludhiana with the support of her husband. Drawing inspiration from the Indian culture, Sonu designs outfits with a contemporary touch. She recently opened a store in Jalandhar and also turned an image consultant wherein she takes classes for young brides-to-be on how to improve their self-image.
