GLADA executive engineer (XEN) Bhupinder Chawla said in a review meeting that so far 70% of the work had been completed. At present, the work had been suspended as some councillors had opposed the laying of the sewerage lines because the sewage-treatment plant was yet to be completed, he said.

The project was slated to be completed in nine months. Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had laid the foundation of the project on February 11, 2011. Nakodar legislator GS Wadala, who had called the meeting, directed the GLADA officials to speed up the construction work of sewerage lines.
