The World Cancer Care (WCC), an international organisation, has decided to organise 1,500 free medical camps across Punjab during the next three years for detecting cancer at an early stage.
Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, global ambassador of the WCC, said, "We have dedicated two medical buses to the nation for the treatment of cancer patients and now the Board of Directors of WCC has decided to provide three medical buses worth `10 crore to Punjab soon."
Dhaliwal said that about 72% people have been living in rural areas in Punjab while 28% people live in urban areas but, unfortunately, the Union and state governments have completely failed to provide required health services in rural areas. "So, we have decided to open free medical centres at various places in Punjab. Seven medical awareness centres will be opened soon in Bathinda, Moga, Ferozepur, Majitha, Amritsar, Mohali and Sangrur," said Dhaliwal.
Earlier on Wednesday, the WCC organised a mega medical camp at the Dr Mathura Das Pahwa civil hospital here with the collaboration of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation and the Lions Club Moga Vision.
The doctors, who had come from London, checked more than 900 patients at the camp and the WCC provided medicines free of cost to all the patients.

{{/usCountry}}Addressing the gathering of prominent people, Punjab agriculture minister Tota Singh said that the state government has appreciated efforts of the WWC for cancer patients. "We assure the people that the Punjab government will provide all medical facilities to the people of the state," said the minister.
