Accusing the state government of hand in glove with private power company by closing the state's own thermal power plants, youth INLD leader Dhushyant Chautala on Tuesday alleged that chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had ignored the interests of state, power consumers and employees of the Haryana power utilities.
Interacting with mediapersons here, Dhushyant, who is the son of Dabwali MLA Ajay Chautala, alleged that the state government was deliberately purchasing electricity at higher rates to provide benefit to the private companies, whereas 9 out of 12 power plants in the state had been shutdown.
He held said that Haryana government had in 2008 signed an agreement with the Adani power limited for 1424-MW electricity at Rs 2.94 per unit for 25 years, but there was no provision for a hike in rate. However, now the state government had violated the norms of the old agreement and increased the rate to Rs 3.23 per unit, which now costs Rs 4.20 per unit, including fixed charges.
Demanding a white paper over the purchase of electricity by the state government, he said that the party would also raise this issue in the state assembly during the coming session and to provide relief to the power consumers, the INLD would also take this issue to the court.

Dushyant told newspersons that and INLD MLA from Kalka, Pardeep Chaudhry, on Tuesday handed over the remaining four CDs, allegedly showing two Congress leaders and kin of as many Congress leaders seeking money in lieu of change of land use (CLU) permissions, to the lokayukta justice Pritam Pal (retd). The hearing in the case had been scheduled for February 25, 2014, he said.

However, all of them had rubbished the allegations when the INLD leaders had released these CDs to the media last year.
