While interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of the sangat darshan in Lambi assembly segment in Muktsar district, Badal said that in the Abohar murder case, the state government is taking every step to provide justice to the victims. He said almost all main accused involved in the heinous crime had been nabbed and law was taking its own course. “Our government has always acted swiftly to deal with such cases and nobody will be allowed to take law in their hands,” he added.

Reacting to Sukhpal Singh Khaira joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Badal said it would not make a difference to the SAD-BJP alliance. He said it was hardly an issue for them whether Khaira joined the AAP or remained in the Congress. Khaira in any case would have contested the election; however, the SAD-BJP candidate from Bholath assembly segment would remain the same, Badal said.

Amid media reports on the possibility of early elections to the state assembly, the chief minister said, “The SAD-BJP alliance is fully prepared to face election at any moment. In a democratic set-up, political parties are always ready for elections and the SAD is no exception.”

Badal said the Congress’ allegations that the state government is taking anti-democratic decisions were baseless.

The chief minister exhorted people to take full benefit of the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra scheme for free pilgrimage to Nanded Sahib, Varanasi, Katra and Ajmer Sharif.
