Gurdaspur additional deputy commissioner (development) Sukhdev Singh has been sent to jail and placed under suspension by the state government in a criminal case on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court.

The case against Singh was registered in the Nawanshahr police station. Singh, during his tenure as Nawanshahr district development and panchayats officer, had given two decisions in a particular case on the same date. The matter was placed before the high court, which directed the police to register a criminal case against him.
Singh surrendered to the police a few days ago. A court in Nawanshahr remanded him to a day in police custody after which he was sent to judicial custody in the Central Jail in Ludhiana.
