Addressing a press conference, senior superintendent of police Rakesh Kaushal said three youths on a black-coloured CBZ motorcycle bike snatched a woman's purse near Chakki Bank Railway Station, when she was getting into an autorickshaw.

"The complainant told us that her purse contained `50,300 cash, some gold articles and her mobile phone. As soon as we received the complaint, we increased the vigil and all passing points were put on high alert," he added.

Kaushal said that on Chakki Bank, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Parmod Kumar intercepted three youths on a motorcycle, and stopped them. One of them managed to flee the spot, but the other two were nabbed and the stolen items recovered.

"The youths were identified as Sachleen Singh of Hari Darbar Colony at Kahnuwan Road, and Harmanveer Singh of Sardosanni Road," he said, adding that Harmanveer's father was serving at the Gurdaspur police station.

"We are quizzing the duo and the third accused will be arrested soon. We expect to solve many theft cases with these arrests," Kaushal claimed.
