The Hero Group on Thursday announced the launch of BML Munjal University (BMU), a higher-education initiative by the $5-billion (`31,213.50 crore) business conglomerate in collaboration with London's Imperial College.
A fully-residential university, the BMU is located at Sidhrawali village in Haryana's Gurgaon district, on national highway-24, 50 kilometres from the Delhi international airport.
Named after Hero Group co-founder and chairman Brij Mohan Lall Munjal, the university aspires to nurture ethical leaders who are skilled and knowledgeable, and give it students practical knowledge of best global standards. Its launch will be in two phases (as website suggests). The School of Engineering and Technology and School of Management will come up in Phase 1 in 2014. Four additional schools are proposed to be added in Phase 2.
The announcement came here in the presence of group the promoters Suman Kant Munjal (Rockman Industries managing director); Pawan Munjal (Hero MotoCorp MD and chief executive officer), Sunil Kant Munjal (BML Educorp Services founder chairman); and Renu Munjal, Hero FinCorp MD. BML Educorp Services executive director Akshay Munjal will lead this Munjal family initiative.

"Building avenues for entrepreneurship is critical to enabling India's continued economic growth; and so it's imperative to promote the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among youngsters," said Pawan Munjal.

{{/usCountry}}The School of Engineering and Technology will offer 300 seats in its BTech (honours) programme. The School of Management will offer 60 seats each in its MBA and BBA programmes. Admissions will also be based on ranking in government-conducted exams, Class-12 and Class-10 marks, essays, recommendation letters, and test of aptitude, attitude and hands-on capability.
