The United Cycle and Parts Manufacturer Association (UCPMA) on Saturday criticised the state government for increasing the factory licence renewal charges again.
A meeting of UCPMA office bearers was held at the office premises in which they stated that the industry was already going through a rough phase and imposing taxes on industry would further ruin it.
Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma, president, UCPMA, said the government had bifurcated the rates according to the electricity load and number labour, which the industry uses.
“The state government has increased the renewal fee thrice in the past and it is also planning to take the fee in advance for five years,”said Vishivkarma.
“As the industry in Punjab is already reeling under recession due to various government taxes and policies, this new burden imposed on the industry will surely make a severe dent,” he said.
Members of the association including Inderjit Singh Navyug, Pradeep Wadhwan, Ajit Kumar, Achhru Ram Gupta, Bunty Malhotra and Rajesh Bansal were present.
