While testing the efficiency of the new equipments to be purchased from a private Gurgaon-based arms company, the IG fired upon his own men wearing civvies, who were asked to raise their hands once the pellet would hit them.

Soon pepper gun shots were also fired at the nearby small group of plainclothesmen and women who immediately started coughing vigorously.

These equipments can be inducted into the Haryana police after getting the government approval, if their efficiency is found satisfactory.

When HT asked the IG if he had sought the authorisation from the people on whom he fired these pellets and pepper gas, the IG retorted, "What for do I need authorisation? They are my men and it is a routine drill for them."

Calling for the induction of latest equipment in the state police, the IG said, "Induction of items like these should be our top most priority. Earlier protesters used to move once we used to push them or use orthodox methods. But the protesting crowd these days is different. Therefore, we have to acquire the latest equipment for everyone's security and safety and to maintain the law and order," the IG said.
