Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday termed the one-year rule of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government as "anti-people".
He called upon on all District Congress Committees (DCC) to stage protest rallies against the "anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-youth and anti-ex servicemen policies" of the Modi government, on June 8.
"The Modi government showed dreams of 'achhe din' to the people, but has failed to deliver its poll promises," he said, alleging that the central government was trying to sell farmers' land to corporate houses by amending the Land Acquisition Bill that was brought out by the Congress-led UPA government after consulting all stakeholders and political parties.
"All political parties, including the BJP, had agreed to all provisions of the Land Acquisition Bill passed by the UPA government. But soon after coming to power, the BJP government reversed its stand and is now trying to make changes in the key provisions of the bill, only to benefits some corporates," he said.
He also instructed all DCC presidents and office-bearers to stage protests against the central government for early implementation of 'One Rank, One Pension' scheme for which the UPA government had made a budgetary provision of Rs 500 crore.
He also instructed all block Congress committees, National Students' Union of India (NSUI), Youth Congress, Mahila Congress and Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) office-bearers to remain present in the protests and submit memorandums to the President through the deputy commissioners of the respective areas.
