Just a couple of days after the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) here gave itself a clean chit over not providing timely ambulance to former chief minister Hukam Singh, Pradeep Kasni, director general and secretary of medical education and research department, on Tuesday, expressed dissatisfaction with the ‘fairness’ of probe.
Hukam Singh, who was state chief minister from July 1990 to March 1992, had died on February 26, at a private hospital in Gurgaon after a prolonged illness.
Kasni, who was entrusted the responsibility to probe the allegation of ex-CM’s family that they were made to wait for three long hours by the PGIMS authorities for an ambulace to carry him to a Gurgaon hospital, reached here on Monday evening and grilled two of the senior medical doctors, namely Dhruv Chaudhary and Ashok Chauhan.
“I am not satisfied by the rationale given by doctors here about the episode. And the very idea of shifting an ex-CM, who had the privilege of a cabinet minister, from the topmost health institute to another hospital in itself raises suspicion on the kind of treatment received by the patients here”, said Kasni while interacting with media persons.
However, while leaving for Dadri, the native place of Hukam Singh, he said that though it was not correct to comment on whether the premier institute was at fault, as he was yet to speak to the family of the former CM about their complaint in this case.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, sources close to Kasni said that Hukam Singh’s family stood by their allegation over availability of ambulance in time.After the controversy over the issue, PGIMS had set up a three-member committee headed by institute officiating director Rohtash Yadav to probe the matter and it found no lapses on their part. He also advocated the setting up of vigilance committees to improve the treatment facilities and said that he would recommend the government to strengthen the delivery system of health services here.
