A man committed suicide after he came to know about an alleged extra-marital affair of his wife with his cousin brother.
The victim has been identified as Prem Chand, 32, a resident of Gurmail Nagar, and he married Sonia Rani, 12 years ago.
After the incident, the Daba Police booked Sonia and Prem's cousin Narinder Kumar under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Deceased's mother Shukantla Rani lodged a complaint with the Daba police station alleging that Sonia had developed illicit relations with Narinder after her marriage with her son. She said her son had asked Sonia to refrain from going ahead in the relation with Narinder but she remained in touch with him.
On May 23, Prem caught Sonia talking to Narinder over phone and had asked her to go back to her maternal home in Jalandhar. He later dropped her there.
On Tuesday, Prem left for his shop in the Daba area and had consumed some poisonous substance in evening. He was rushed to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital where he died.
It is suspected that Prem committed suicide due to the alleged illicit relations of his wife.The police have booked Sonia and Narinder and have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
