The municipal corporation (MC) conducted a drive against seven unauthorised constructions and colonies in the different areas of the city on Tuesday. The drive was started in the morning and a few people opposed the MC's action.

The demolition drive was firstly conducted in zone C where the teams of building branch razed two colonies on Star School Road. According to MC officials, the colonies were being developed illegally in the area about which MC had received complaints.

Another illegal colony was razed near Eastman chowk. It was learnt that the colonizer has started illegal constructions in this colony which lacks the MC's permission.

Following a complaint by another resident, the MC razed unauthorised construction in Prem Nagar. The building was being constructed against the norms.

The MC teams were accompanied by police force to control any untoward situation.

MC superintendent Rajiv Saggar said a few people opposed the drive but the situation was under control. He said that the unauthorised constructions were razed with the help of JCB machines.

A new chowpati that was being constructed on Rani Jhansi Road was also demolished. Saggar said that the chowpati was being constructed against the norms.

Sources said the MC commissioner has directed the officials of the building branch to act against the unauthorised constructions.
