In absence of Zaheer Khan, who has been left out of the Indian team for their tour against England due to injury, the Indian pace attack seems to be lacklustre. However, there are young bowlers who have proved their credentials off and on and have the capabilities to shoulder the responsibilities on the favourable England wickets, which offer movement to pace bowlers. We bring you a list of bowlers who can play their part in India’s chances against England.

A right-arm medium fast bowler, Shami is a deceptive potent seamer. In 2011, he played IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders and rose quickly amongst the fans. As a result of his domestic success, he was chosen for his first international tour against Pakistan where he replaced his own Bengal teammate Ashok Dinda.

The tour proved a highlight for his resume. Shami has grown in stature thereafter. He had a dream Test debut, taking 9 wickets for 118 runs against the West Indies. In his last Test against the Kiwis, Shami took 6 wickets in the drawn match. Shami for sure has the ammunitions to turn the tables in India’s favour on the seaming England wickets.

The pacer has had a few past experiences of playing in England. Zaheer himself has said that Ishant is the man to step up at this crucial hour. The wonder boy is already the fifth youngest Indian to have taken 100 wickets in Test series. Seeing his recent ODI performance against South Africa, 4/40 on 11, December 2013, people can bank on Ishant to spearhead the Indian attack in Zaheer’s absence.
