Independence day celebrated

The Independence Day was celebrated with great joy and fervor at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on Friday. Charanjit Singh Atwal, speaker, Punjab vidhan sabha, was the chief guest who unfurled the flag.

The Independence Day was celebrated with great joy and fervor at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on Friday. Charanjit Singh Atwal, speaker, Punjab vidhan sabha, was the chief guest who unfurled the flag.

While addressing the gathering, Atwal congratulated the people on the occasion of 68th Independence Day. He recalled the sacrifices given by the martyrs and contribution of freedom fighters for Independence of the country.

He said, there is need to provide right education to students who are the future of this country.

Students from various schools presented the cultural events. The police personnel also participated in the march past.

During the function, freedom fighters and their families were honoured by Atwal. Those who made contribution in their respective fields were also awarded. Tri-cycles and sewing machines were given to needy.
