Crying hoarse over the re-imposition of fuel cost of 10 paise per unit, the Ludhiana industrialists have termed it as an "unbearable burden" which should be done away with.
A group of industrialist members, Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisations (FICO), convened a meeting under chairman Gurmeet Singh Kular here on Saturday.
Kular said that according to the government, the fuel cost had been imposed by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited on sale of power, but we did not get any notice. The fuel cost was abolished after March as the power bills of the past seven months did not have any fuel cost but it had suddenly reappeared in the bills of November, Kular said.
"We are already paying hefty power bills as after the revision of power tariff, the industry is paying 72 paise per unit and now additional 10 paise per unit will add to the burden. We request the government to either roll it back or adjust it with the next bills so that industry can get relief," Kular said on behalf of FICO.
The industrialists also called upon the government to extend the date of paying property tax to March 31, adding that till now the collector rates which the government had announced after 25% discount on industrial property tax had not been updated on the Ludhiana municipal corporation's website.
