‘Industry-academia interaction prepares students for challenges’

A daylong industry-academia interface was organised by the School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, in the Science Auditorium on Tuesday.

Presiding over the function, vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh said the basic purpose of the industry-institute interaction was to make students aware of the skill set requirements of the industry and to prepare them for the challenges of present day industry.

Besides basic conceptual knowledge, technical skills and good communication ability is also important to get them placed in good jobs, he added.

He said top-ranking business managers from different companies have come here to promote industry-university linkages so as to benefit the students of professional courses in the management stream.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries Gurdeep Singh Batra, head of the department, said the School of Management Studies has initiated this programme to provide an opportunity to the management students to have an open dialogue with the industry specialists.
