A day ahead of the Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘inquilab’ rally, party candidate Lakhbir Singh Rai on Tuesday claimed that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress workers removed AAP’s rally-hoardings from various locations in Fatehgarh Sahib and Sirhind.
Rai, who is contesting upcoming Punjab polls from Fatehgarh Sahib assembly constituency, said he got the hoardings installed at several places in the two cities to highlight the visit of party’s star campaigner MP Bhagwant Mann, who will address a gathering on Wednesday.
Rai alleged that municipal council and administration were discriminating against AAP. “Their workers removed our hoardings with the help of administration,” claimed, Rai.
“If they (administration) found our hoardings illegal then why the hoardings of other parties are still in place?” asked Rai. Meanwhile AAP’s Bassi Pathana candidate Santokh Singh Salana also alleged that administration was removing the hoardings of their party only, in his constituency.
The allegation by the AAP leaders comes a day after the district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Kamaldeep Singh called a meeting of various departments to remove the illegal hoardings.
Sangha passed on instructions to concerned department including Public Works department (PWD), Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), Panchayati Raj department, health department, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and others to remove such hoardings with immediate effect and take action against the violators.

{{/usCountry}}On the other hand, Dipesh Kumar, executive officer, municipal council (MC) said they have removed publicity material of other parties too. “We white washed a wall on Grand trunk road which had paintings of Akali leaders. We are doing our work without any discrimination,” said Kumar. “All such material will be removed in 2-3 days, no matter which party it belongs to,” he added.
