Claiming that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will continue its winning streak in bypolls, the ruling party on Tuesday claimed that the Patiala bypoll results would be shocking to the Congress and its leader Capt Amarinder Singh.
On the final day for campaigning, the Akali Dal gave voters a “Vote for development” slogan by highlighting that the SADBJP was in power at both the Centre and the state.
Akali leaders, including MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, cabinet ministers Dr Daljeet Cheema and Surjit Rakhra, said at a press conference, “We focussed on personal contact and got good response. SAD will spring a surprise and will win the seat after 17 years.”
On Amarinder’s claims that Patiala bypoll would be a game-changer in Punjab politics, Chandumajra said, “Yes, results will be a game-changer and will shock Captain, who will suffer a defeat at home ground. I can say that it will end his career.”
Dr Cheema said, “Amarinder is planning to contest the 2017 assembly polls, but we will ensure his defeat.”
