Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Sunday said his "Jai Kisan Andolan" is not a socialist but a political struggle, which will build a political clout for farming and labour community.
Yadav, who was in Patiala in connection with his andolan, got a massive support here, where AAP MP Dharamvira Gandhi is said to be his supporter and had even opposed his removal from the party earlier this year.
Reciprocating the gesture of Gandhi, Yadav said the Patiala MP was raising public voice and was the only leader in Punjab who was working selflessly for the people's cause.
Talking about the launching of farming movement, Yadav said this was done to highlight the political significance of farming community. "Every party has used farmers and labourers as voters, but had done anything for their progress. Thus, we decided to highlight the cause of farmers," he said.
Asked if he would be using the 'Jai Kisan Andolan' in the same way as AAP used the Anna Hazare movement to launch a political party, Yadav said, "This is political movement to bring fore the power of farmers and labourers to fore. However, we will not form a party." He added that all parties were welcome to join the movement.
Leading the "Tractor Rally", Yadav criticised the Union agricultural minister for his remarks on farmer's suicides. He said that farmers were suffering because farming has become a non-profiting business and therefore they were committing suicides.
He said on one hand the government was not doing anything for the farmers, while on the other it was hell-bent to pass the anti-farmer Land Acquisition Bill. He said through his movement, he would press the government to withdraw the Land Acquisition Bill.

"Through this movement, we will also press for a minimum income guarantee for farmers; comprehensive, assured and adequate compensation against natural calamities, besides two -acre land for landless farmers," he added.
