Lovedeep Singh Dhingra, a student of MGN Public School, Jalandhar, has made the city proud by securing second rank in the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), the results of which were declared on Saturday.
Lovedeep, who is the state topper in AIPMT, recently stood third in the Class-12 examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in medical stream in the district with 96.4% marks.
He has scored 680 marks, just three marks short of the all-India AIPMT topper. The AIPMT-2014 was held on May 4 by the CBSE for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.
Having grown up seeing three doctors in his house - his father, mother and grandfather - Lovedeep always wanted to become one.
"It was my aim to get admission to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) which is now taking shape. This is a special thing for me. It is a collective effort. I am thankful to my teachers and parents who always supported me to get the best," Lovedeep said.
"My father, an orthopaedic surgeon, was the first from Jalandhar to get admission in AIIMS. He also did his master's in surgery from AIIMS while my grandfather was the first to open a pathological lab in the city. I too want to get recognition by serving people. I am confident that I will get admission in AIIMS," he shared.

{{/usCountry}}Though he has not decided on the area of his specialisation yet, Lovedeep is inclined to become an eye surgeon. He has also been selected in the Indraprastha University examination with third rank, 37th rank in Manipal University and 24th rank in the CMC Ludhiana.
Lovedeep's mother Dr Damanjot Dhingra, an eye surgeon, said, "It is all because of his teachers and his grandmother's grooming that he excelled."
