Jalandhar Cong leader held in car theft case

The CIA staff of the local police on Thursday arrested Ranjit Laddi, president of the District Congress Sewa Dal, in a car theft case. Laddi, who was found driving a car on Laddowali Road with a fake registration number, was produced in a local court that sent him to one-day police custody.

The CIA staff of the local police on Thursday arrested Ranjit Laddi, president of the District Congress Sewa Dal, in a car theft case.

Laddi, who was found driving a car on Laddowali Road with a fake registration number, was produced in a local court that sent him to one-day police custody.

According to information, hockey player Dharam Pal Singh, 38, a resident of Topkhana Market, had complained to the Navi Baradari police that he used to come to the ground of the local Lyallpur Khalsa College in his Swift car to play hockey.

He said that on the morning of October 4 last year, as he returned after the game, his car was missing. Singh said Rs 24,000 in cash, a copy of the land registration of his house and other documents were lying inside the car.

The Navi Baradari police had registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC against unidentified people.

CIA staff incharge Inderjit Singh said Laddi was using a fake registration number on the car.
