Jalandhar cops crack murder case

With the arrest of three Nepalese nationals, residing in Mau Sahib village, the Jalandhar rural police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the murder case of 55-year-old Gurjant Singh of Malerkotla.

With the arrest of three Nepalese nationals, residing in Mau Sahib village, the Jalandhar rural police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the murder case of 55-year-old Gurjant Singh of Malerkotla.

Deceased Singh was found murdered on the outskirts of Mau Sahib village on Wednesday morning.

The police said Singh had given his combine machine on rent to the area farmers and had arrived here to collect rent.

After collecting the rent, Singh slept in the house of one Manpreet Singh, situated on the outskirts of the village.

On Tuesday night, the accused, including Aslaj, Shadat and Nayaz Alam, who knew that Singh was carrying cash with him, attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. The accused fled with Singh's Rs 7,000.

The police said Singh had deposited Rs 80,000 with a friend on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the police recovered Singh's wallet containing Rs 7,000 from the accused.

A case has been registered against them under Section 302 at the Phillaur police station.
