On the other hand, districts like Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Moga, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur have got one-month extension, where the consumers will continue to get subsidised LPG refill as the scheme for them will start from February 1.

According to the documents in possession of HT, only 2.41 lakh consumers of the total 5.14 lakh in Jalandhar district have given their Aadhaar details to gas agencies.

Of these, only 1.61 lakh have linked their Aadhaar number and bank account with the LPG connection, which means that around 3.52 lakh consumers in the district will not be able to get the subsidy provided under the DBTL scheme.

After December 31, these consumers will have to buy LPG cylinder at market price, which is Rs 1,066 per refill.

In other districts of the Doaba region, including Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur also, the situation is not satisfactory. Nawanshahr tops the chart with maximum number of LPG consumers who have linked their Aadhaar card to their bank account as well as gas agencies.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, IOC chief area manager Rajeev Patel said, "We have not yet received any communication about the extension for launching the scheme in Jalandhar.

He said the extension of one month had been awarded to Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Moga districts, where the DBTL scheme would be launched on February 1.

He said the consumers would have to buy the LPG cylinders at market rates in case the government did not give any extension.
