On May 14, a Goraya commission agent was murdered during a morning walk. The incident sent shockwaves among the residents.
Now it has come to light that Narinder Singh Nindi was eliminated by gangsters who hatched the murder plot from behind the bars.
The police have arrested six associates of gangsters Amandeep Singh Amna of Daduwal, lodged in Kapurthala jail, and Binny Gujjar who is in Amritsar jail. Their arrest has revealed that the two gangsters were constantly in touch with their accomplices outside through conference calls when the murder was planned.
“The accused were arrested at a special naka at Pasla village in Jalandhar on Tuesday,” the police told reporters. They have been identified as Rahul Sood (22) and Lakhvir Singh (33) of Kahna Dhesiyan village in Jalandhar, Bhupinder Singh (22), Geroge alias Ghajini (25), Shivkaran (26), all of Davida Ahirana in Hoshiarpur, and Harinder Singh (25) of Muhaddipur village in Jalandhar.
The police said Rahul and Lakhvir belonged to Amna gang. Rahul had an old enmity with commission agent Nindi and wanted to kill him. He called up Amna, who, in turn, contacted Harinder, Ghajini and Bhupinder of Gurjar gang, whose leader Binny Gujjar,was also taken into confidence.
The group kept a close watch on Nindi’s movement. Earlier, they planned to kill Nindi in his office at the grain market, but couldn’t do so as there was a heavy rush in the market.

The police have recovered two .32 bore two pistols, .9mm pistol, nine live cartridges and two cars from the accused. Senior superintendent of police Jaspreet Singh Sidhu, superintendent of police, investigation, HPS Khakh and deputy superintendent of police Parminder Singh were present at the press conference.

The use of mobile phones by gangsters in prison has put Kapurthala and Amritsar jail authorities under scanner. The connivance of jail staff has not been ruled out. The jails department had also planned to install mobile jammers, but the project is yet to take off.
