With the arrest of three persons, the rural police on Saturday claimed to have solved the Nurmahal robbery case and recovered Rs 4.46 lakh, the looted money, within 60 hours of the crime.
The accused have been identified as Lakhjeet Singh, a resident of Model Town in Nurmahal, Gurwinder Singh of Bhangla village and Harbir Singh of Kheda village in the district.
On January 7, three unidentified bike-borne persons had snatched a bag containing Rs 4.5 lakh from Jagjit Singh of Model Town in Nurmahal.
Addressing a press conference here, inspector general of police (zone-II) Lok Nath Angra, flanked by senior superintendent of police Narinder Bhargava and superintendent of police (D) HPS Khakh, said immediately after the incident, a case was registered against unknown persons under sections 392 (punishment for robbery) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and senior police officials rushed to spot.
He further said in the preliminary investigation, it was found that someone known to Jagjit was involved in the incident and all the employees, including his former staff, who worked in his factory, were called for investigation.
The IGP further informed that the investigation pointed finger at towards Lakhjeet who had worked in Jagjit’s factory and was unemployed presently.

{{/usCountry}}Acting on a tip-off, nakas were laid in the Nurmahal town and a police party nabbed the accused who were on a bike near Noormahal Dera, the senior police official said.
The police recovered Rs 4.46 lakh and the Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle they used in robbery, he added.
SSP Bhargava said Lakhjeet had information about Jagjit.
He said the accused Gurwinder had a love marriage and was unable to arrange money to meet daily expenses.
