Jallianwala Bagh martyrs remembered

Stating that the entire nation fought selflessly to secure the country's freedom from the British rule, local politicians paid homage to the martyrs on the 93rd anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre here on Friday. They urged youths to learn from martyrs and strive to strengthen the country.

Stating that the entire nation fought selflessly to secure the country's freedom from the British rule, local politicians paid homage to the martyrs on the 93rd anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre here on Friday. They urged youths to learn from martyrs and strive to strengthen the country.

A patriotic book by Col JK Singh was also released on the occasion.

Among those who paid tributes to the martyrs included former Punjab minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla, Congress leader and vice-chairman of National Commission for SCs/STs Raj Kumar Verka, former deputy speaker Darbari Lal, additional deputy commissioner (development) Supreet Singh Gulati, Jallianwala Bagh Trust secretary SK Mukherji and Jallianwala Bagh Shaheed Parivar Samiti president Bhushan Behal.

Shouting slogans, members of various student organisations reached Jallianwala Bagh in a procession and paid homage to the martyrs.

The participants included members of All India Naujawan sabha, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Naujawan Sabha, Janvadi Naujawan Sabha, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Punjab Students Union, Student Federation of India, Punjab Students Federation and All India Student Federation, Punjab unit.
