Job racket busted in Mohali, three arrested

With the arrest of three persons, the SAS Nagar police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang involved in the forgery of certificates and promising jobs in the Punjab Police, railway and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) among others.

With the arrest of three persons, the SAS Nagar police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang involved in the forgery of certificates and promising jobs in the Punjab Police, railway and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) among others.

Fake certificates, a desktop computer, three laptops, a printer scanner, fake stamps besides Rs 90,000 have been recovered from them.

The accused have been identified as Raj Kumar of Fazilka who stays in Phase 7, SAS Nagar, Sanjay Kumar alias Sonu of Baltana in Zirakpur and Chander Kumar, a resident of Dhakoli in Zirakpur.

“The accused used to provide fake degrees and certificates with enhanced marks to their customers. They were in touch with about 400 persons who had applied for constables’ posts in the Punjab Police,” said SAS Nagar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar while addressing mediapersons. The police said the accused also provided domicile, character and caste certificates.

The police arrested the accused on a tip-off that the accused were running fake-degree racket from Phase 7.

A case has been registered at the Mataur police station in this connection. Further investigations in the case are underway, the police said.
