The Sikh man who created a ruckus during the World Cup Kabaddi closing ceremony on Saturday evening by snatching the mike from singer Jaspinder Narula, is said to be a supporter of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, who has been on a fast-unto-death in Mohali, demanding release of Sikh prisoners who have already completed their sentences.
The police have registered a case under section 107/151 of CrPC against the protester, Gurpreet Singh of Kila Hans village near Rara Sahib in Ludhiana district, at Division 8 police station.
He wanted to draw the chief minister's attention to some issue, but failed to do so as the mike was switched off.
After taking him in custody, the police took him to the CIA office for questioning. The police scanned his Facebook account and phone call details, but didn't find anything objectionable.
Sources said Gurpreet was sitting in the VIP gallery in the stadium. He jumped over the barricade and reached the stage. The cops immediately get hold of him and in the melee, his turban got removed.
