After starting from Delhi at 5.30am, the train will reach Ludhiana at 10.55 pm and will further reach Katra at 5.30pm, thus covering the journey in around six-and-a-half hours only.

From Katra, the train will depart at 10.30 pm and reach Ludhiana at 5.40am.

Gurkirat Kaur, a resident of BRS Nagar, said, “I cannot travel by bus or car in the hilly areas, thus it is difficult for me to go to Vaishno Devi shrine. This train is like a special gift for me as I can cover my journey up to Katra, which is the base camp for Vaishno Devi via train only.”

Two trains announced till now up to Katra will be having their stoppage on Ludhiana station and thus shortening the distance to holy pilgrim of Vaishno Devi shrine.

Another announced train Kalka to Katra Express (14503/04) will also benefit the residents, as it too will halt in the city. However, this train will run twice a week only.
