Khattar asks transport dept to go online for all payments

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal on Monday directed the transport department to prepare an online system for the payment of all type of fee, taxes and other payments of commercial vehicles in the state so as to ensure transparency and check corruption.

Presiding over a meeting with the representatives of transporters associations of the state here Khattar said that the state government was committed to leave no scope for corruption in the delivery of public services.

He said that the government of India had prepared software namely ‘vaahan and saarthi’ version 4.0 which had been circulated to all the states including Haryana and this software was being customised as the per the state’s requirement with the assistance of National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Taking a strict note of complaints regarding unprecedented delay in issuing high security registration plates (HSRP) of commercial vehicles despite of depositing required fee, Khattar directed the department to take stern action against the contractor. This was the gross misuse of the public money and it would not be tolerated, he added. The contract of HSRP was allotted to Link Utsav Private Ltd in the year 2012.

He also asked the department to take up the matter with Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) of developing a transport nagar in Gurgaon and Faridabad. He said that driving school was being opened in all districts of the state so as to impart training in driving and also make the youth employable.
