Assistant commissioner of police (central) Jasbir Singh Rai said that the kidnappers left the infant at a stall outside the PUDA office and a passerby informed the police, after which a police team rescued the boy. Rai said that the police got the boy medically examined and he was found to be in the best of health. He said that infant's parents were called and the boy was handed over to them.

He said that women constables have been deputed in the area in the look out of the woman who had kidnapped the boy as it has come out during investigations that she was a frequent visitor to the locality.

The accused woman would be arrested soon, he said, adding that a case under section 365 (kidnapping) of the IPC had already been registered against the unidentified accused.
