The police have registered a case of murder against the policemen, responsible for the killing of Gurjeet Singh, 25, of Sarawan village, and Krishan Bhagwan Singh, 45, of Behbal Khurad in police firing at Behbal Kalan in Kotkapura on October 14, but families of the victims have not got copies of the first information report (FIR) so far.
“It has been about two weeks since the case was registered against some police officials in the killing of my son Gurjeet, but, despite repeated requests to the authorities concerned, we have not been provided the copy of the FIR so far,” said Sadhu Singh, Gurjeet’s father.
“I have twice requested the SDM of Jaitu, who had visited the family, besides the DC, but to no avail. I met the SSP of Faridkot on Monday, he heard us, but did not provide the copy of the FIR. The police neither refuse nor give us the copy. If we get the copy of the FIR, only then we shall know who has been accused, otherwise, it might be only an eyewash,” said Sadhu Singh.
“The government has handed over the case of sacrilege incident to the CBI. We want that the case of the killing of the two should also be handed over to the CBI as both cases are inter-linked,” he said. “The government is misleading the people. None of the SAD top brass has ever given a statement on the killing of the two people at Behbal Kalan by the police. I want to see the accused behind bars,” said Sadhu Singh.
