Lieutenant General PM Hariz took charge as the 18th general officer commanding-in-chief (GOC-inC) of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Saturday.

Lt Gen Hariz succeeds Lt Gen Sanjeev Madhok, who retired on Friday.

A release by the ARTRAC headquarters said Lt Gen Hariz, an alumnus of National Defence Academy, was commissioned into a mechanised infantry battalion in 1978 and later commanded a mechanised recce and support battalion.
His wife Zarina would be the regional president of the Army Wives Welfare Association.
