The Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday directed the Punjab government to list out efforts it was making to transfer the last MBBS batch from Pathankot’s Chintpurni Medical College.

The direction came from the bench of justice RK Jain on a contempt petition the college students had moved on July 4. As ordered, director of research and medical education Dr Manjit Mohi was present in the court. She was asked to submit an affidavit by July 22 to list the efforts in detail. The 101 students enrolled in the session 2014-15 want transfer to other colleges in the state because their college is short of infrastructure.

The high court had asked Punjab to go by the essentiality certificate, which stipulates that in case the college failed to create infrastructure and the medical council stopped its intake, the government will take over the responsibility of the students admitted with the permission of the central government.
