A Ludhiana doctor on Monday claimed he had received an extortion call from an unidentified number.
“The callers demanded Rs 50 lakh and warned me against informing the cops,” said Dr Baldeep Singh of Deep hospital in his complaint lodged at the Model Town police station.

Following the complaint, police personnel have been deployed at doctor’s house and residence. Deputy commissioner of police Narinder Bhargava said the matter was being investigated.
A suspect has been identified and he is being questioned, said police.
