The health department has suspended Dr Sudha Vasudev who was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Mullanpur near here in December last year.
The official letter of suspension of Dr Vasudev, medical officer and de-addiction centre in-charge, Lord Mahavira civil hospital here, reached at the civil surgeon’s office here on Tuesday evening.
Dr Sudha was arrested with around 20,000 tablets meant for de-addiction and was sent behind bars. The Ludhiana civil surgeon had sent a report to the health director in the beginning of January.
As per the orders issued by principal secretary, health, Vini Mahajan, “Services of Dr Sudha Vasudev, medical officer, are suspended from December 19, 2014 till further orders under the Punjab Civil Services rules.”
She will remain attached to the headquarters, director, health, during suspension.
