Ludhiana: Drug peddler gets 15-year jail

The court of additional sessions judge HS Khalsa announced 15 years in prison, the maximum sentence in recovery of commercial quantity of drugs, and fine worth `2 lakh to a drug peddler who was arrested with 25kg opium, on Thursday.

The court of additional sessions judge HS Khalsa announced 15 years in prison, the maximum sentence in recovery of commercial quantity of drugs, and fine worth Rs 2 lakh to a drug peddler who was arrested with 25kg opium, on Thursday.

The decision has come within one-and-a-half years of registration of the case.

The anti narcotics and anti illicit liquor smuggling wing of Ludhiana police commissionerate had arrested Kuldeep Kumar of Noorwala Road on March 9, 2013, when he was carrying 25kg opium worth `25 lakh on his scooter.

On Thursday, the court pronounced its judgment on Kumar who is already lodged in jail.
