Right from big industrial units to small and medium industry, everybody was looking for diesel to carry on work and avoid total shutdown in the manufacturing and administrative units. Almost all petrol pumps in the city witnessed double the sale of diesel in the past two days.

Ludhiana Petroleum Dealers Association secretary Ashok Sachdeva, said the normal sale of diesel is approximately 25,000 litres per day at Laxmi Petrol Pump, but following the increase in demand, the sale had doubled. He said that approximately one lakh litre of diesel had been sold during the past two days at his pump on Ferozepur Road. He said the main reason behind the increase in demand was the power cuts.

There was no diesel at a petrol pump in Agar Nagar on Monday morning as few locals had to return empty handed.
