The Salem Tabri police on Monday said they have solved more than 30 cases of snatchings, loot and vehicle lifting by arresting six members of the Striker Gang.
The accused have been identified as Ranjit Singh alias Goldy, a resident of Bhattiyan, Sunny from Ashok Nagar, Gurmeet Singh alias Johny of Khajur Chowk, Pawan Kumar alias Mottu of New Ashok Nagar and Raj Kumar of Saroop Nagar.
Inspector Maninder Bedi, SHO of police station Salem Tabri, told HT that the arrests have also foiled an attempt by the gangsters to rob a financier had lent money to one of the accused.
He said Tajinder Singh of Jivan Finance had complained to the police that he was being followed by some suspicious people.
Police said they recovered 78,000 tablets of psychotropic drugs from the accused, which the gangsters were allegedly about to supply to people in different parts of the state. They said they also recovered 21 mobile phones, 3 stolen motorcycles, 2 sharp-edged weapons, a baseball bat and an iron rod.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP, city-1) Joginder Singh said the arrests were made following a tip-off late on Monday evening. The accused, he said, confessed to their involvement in various crimes.
Police said more members of the gang, Tatu, Vinod Kumar and Chirri, besides a minor boy, have absconded.

{{/usCountry}}Assistant commissioner of police (ACP north) Ramneesh Chaudhary said in the most recent case the accused snatched a woman's handbag in Chander Nagar area and robbed another person of Rs 40,000.
He said the six gangsters are already facing trial in cases of burglary, loot, fraud and murder.
