Ludhiana student held for uploading morphed pictures of 19-year-old woman

The father of the teenager said his daughter told him the accused copied her pictures and videos from her Facebook and created fake accounts with her name.

The Salem Tabri police have arrested a BTech student of Barnala for uploading morphed pictures of a 19-year-old woman on Facebook and Instagram. The accused was blackmailing the victim to give him money and objectionable pictures, or else he will upload more morphed pictures of her.

When the victim shared the matter with her parents, his father filed a complaint against the accused. Varun Singla (21) was produced in the court and sent to two-day police custody.

The father of the teenager said his daughter told him that the accused copied her pictures and videos from her Facebook account and created fake accounts with her name on FB and photo-sharing app Instagram. He uploaded her morphed pictures on it. The accused also sent the victim message on FB messenger and started blackmailing her.

The accused forced her to send her lewd pictures else he will upload more pictures and videos on the internet. He was demanding money and said then only he will delete the accounts.

A case under Sections 66-E (Punishment for violation of privacy), 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form), 67-A (punishment for publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc, in electronic form) of the IT Act and Sections 384 (Punishment for extortion), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 354-D (Stalking) of the IPC and Section 6 of Indecent Representation of Woman Act has been registered against the accused.

The police are trying to recover the devices used by the accused in morphing pictures and then uploading it online.
