Lust for easy money made Jalandhar IT postgraduate a criminal

A Master’s degree holder in Information Technology (MSc-IT) from the study centre of Punjab Technical University, Mukul Kumar, 28, of Bara Pind village near Goraya town, was dreaming of Australia and undergoing the IELTS course, but the lust for easy money brought him into criminals’ net.

He told police that he had done Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) from from St Soldier College, Hadiabad, Phagwara.

He had also done an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) diploma in air-conditioner repair from the ITI in Palahi near Phagwara.

After the death of Mukul’s father, he worked at Cremica in Phillaur and then came into the contact with Jaswant Singh of Janiya village of the district through his another friend. Jaswant was already booked in the case of drug recovery in 2011 by the Lambra police.

Mukul became a recovery boy in Jaswant’s drug network and was collecting money from consumers.

He allegedly had been working in this network for the past two years. It is the first time that he faced a criminal case.
