Taking exception to revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia's statement that blamed the central government for failing to check cross-border drug smuggling, Randhawa said that merely shifting the blame to the Centre would not help combat this evil that is destroying the state's youth.

"The state government too has a responsibility and a step in this direction can be made by making public Kant's report, in which he is believed to have pinpointed the politicians and police officials involved in smuggling of narcotics as well as in moving the drugs within the state and to other states," he added.

In a statement issued here, the Congress MLA asserted that his party would support the state government's action against those mentioned in the former DGP's report.

The statement also mentioned two Akali leaders of Muradpura village from whom 5 kg heroin along with Rs 12 lakh in fake currency were allegedly seized. Another Akali leader of Ali Nangal was recently apprehended with 5 kg heroin, the Congress leader added.
