The accused has been identified as Parveen Kumar of Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh.

In her complaint filed in June 2013, the victim had alleged that after the death of her elder sister, her parents made her marry her sister's widower in 2004. But, he deserted her in 2011 and went to Himachal Pradesh.

Later, she got into a live-in relationship with Parveen Kumar, who promised to marry her and established physical relations with her.

She alleged that Kumar kept exploiting her physically for at least four years, and when she got pregnant, he gave her some poisonous substance following which she fell ill. Later, he took her to a private nursing home, where her pregnancy was aborted, the victim alleged.

Inspector Sukhbir Singh, station house officer (SHO), Jamalpur station, said a manhunt had been launched to arrest the accused.
