The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNA) handed over a man, who claimed he had been selected for Indian Foreign Service, to the police.
The incident took place months after a woman was arrested for allegedly staying unauthorised on campus for several months.
The woman, identified as Ruby Choudhury, is currently facing trial.
On Sunday, Romy Mahindru reached the LBSNAA claiming to have come for induction into the 90th foundation course after been selected for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in the UPSC examination.
However, when he failed to produce documents in favour of his claim, authorities handed him over to police on Sunday night.
Senior sub-inspector RS Kholiya said no official complaint had been filed by the institute but the youth was being interrogated.
"He belongs to Lucknow and is frustrated after not being able to get a job. We are investigating to find more details about him," Kholiya told HT on Monday.
Mahindru claimed that he had been issued a letter by the department of personnel and training asking to join LBSNAA on September 6.
He also claimed he had spoken to the DoPT secretary on September 6 who had assured him that relevant documents had been faxed to LBSNAA.
