Man dies during scuffle over property, brother booked

A 54-year-old man was booked after his brother died of high blood pressure during a scuffle between the two over the latter's flat.

A 54-year-old man was booked after his brother died of high blood pressure during a scuffle between the two over the latter's flat.

The deceased, Avtar Singh, 50, was a resident of High Income Group (HIG) flats at Jamalpur.

In her complaint to police, Avtar's wife Saroj submitted that they lived in a joint family with her husband's brother Sartaj Singh.

On Tuesday, Sartaj entered into a scuffle with Avtar Singh over possession of the flat. During the fracas, Avtar collapsed on ground. He was rushed to the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), but was declared brought dead. Later, the post-mortem report revealed that Avtar died of high blood pressure.

Saroj alleged that Sartaj wanted possession of the flat owned by Avtar. She also alleged that Sartaj was under the influence of alcohol when he entered into scuffle with Avtar.

Following her complaint, a case under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Sartaj.
