Man gets 10-year jail for attempt to rape

A court here, on Wednesday, sentenced a youth to 10-year jail for attempting to rape a six-year-old girl in Moonak sub-division of the district. The court of additional sessions judge Varinder Aggarwal also imposed a fine of `35,000 on the accused.

The case was registered on July 19 at Moonak police station by family members of the girl. As per the complaint, Goldy Singh, a neighbor of the girl, entered her house when she was alone and took her to his home on the pretext of offering sweets. There he tried to rape her but she started crying. Hearing her cries, some neighbours entered the house and saved the girl.
