The Sonepat court on Friday awarded life imprisonment to a 50-year-old man for raping his daughter in July 2013. The convict was identified as Shyam Lal, a resident of Kanwali village.

Police said, "The victim had lodged a complaint on July11, 2013. She was subjected to torture and physical assault. Convict also threatened to defame her by circulating the video clip, which he had made."
Complainant said her father was a drug addict and raped her for six months. She narrated the sequence of events to her maternal uncle, who in turn reported the matter to police.
Police had booked the convict under rape and criminal intimidation charges.
